Kossob doubles

Nick Kossob's two-out, bases-loaded double drove in three runs to help the Sunnyvale National Little League junior all-star team pull to an 8-8 tie in recent tournament play against Moreland. Kossob's accomplishment was incorrectly credited to another player in a recent issue of the Sun.

Special Olympics softball

The Special Olympics softball tournament, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, will be held Aug. 22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Sunnyvale. Admission is free to the 20-team tournament.

Adult sports

Registration is now under way for the fall adult softball and basketball leagues offered by the city of Sunnyvale.

The 11-week adult basketball season begins Sept. 8, and there are leagues scheduled Sunday through Thursday evenings. The cost is $520 per team, plus $10 for each non-resident.

The seven-week adult softball season also begins Sept. 8, and there are leagues scheduled Sunday through Thursday evenings. The cost is $350 per team, plus $10 for each non-resident.

The registration deadline for each league is Aug. 19. For more information, call Gary Brown at 730-7334.

Fall baseball

For teen-agers who didn't get enough baseball through the spring and summer months, there are a couple of area baseball leagues now holding signups for the fall season for players ages 13-18.

Former De Anza Community College coach Terry Hardtke is holding signups for a fall ball league that begins Sept. 12 and is geared to high school-aged players. There will be divisions for varsity and junior varsity players. For more information, call 997-6868.

Another fall-winter baseball league will run from Sept. 8-Dec. 6 with games played on five San Jose baseball diamonds. For more information on the program, call 287-4284.

Soccer signups

The De Anza Destiny is looking for experienced players for its girls' under-17 and girls' under-19 Class 3 soccer programs. For more information, call Doug Huston at 446-5320.

Dammit Run returns

The 25th annual Dammit Run returns to Los Gatos Aug. 22 with another dedicated field of runners expected to make the trek from Los Gatos High School to Lexington Dam and back again.

The 5.0-mile run is set for an 8:30 a.m. start. For more information, call 354-7365 or 395-4311.
