    County Planning Commission positions open

Santa Clara County Joe Simitian invites interested Santa Clara County residents to apply for an open position on the County's Planning Commission. Service on the Planning Commission provides an opportunity to work with members of the public as well as county staff and elected officials to influence county land use policy and to craft solutions to regional and neighborhood development challenges.

The Planning Commission advises the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors on ordinance amendments dealing with land development and subdivision matters, including zoning changes. The Commission also has the power to grant or deny use permits and administers the county's planning laws for land use and development in unincorporated areas.

The Planning Commission meets on the first Thursday of every month at 1:30 p.m. Interested parties should submit a résumé, cover letter and three references. Information should be mailed to Supervisor Joe Simitian, Office of the Board of Supervisors, 70 West Hedding Street, 10th floor, San Jose, CA 95110. Applications may also be faxed to 408.280.0418. The deadline for application is Oct. 1.
