Vote for candidates with vision

Regarding the opinion letter stating that the City Council and Planning Department have no vision regarding building four-story buildings in a residential neighborhood, the lady should remember that you cannot have a City Council or civil servants with vision unless you vote in people with vision.

Unfortunately, there are not many people running for office who have convictions, let alone vision for the well-being of their communities. This may be a reminder that all voters should question their candidates on the issues and hold them accountable for what they promise.

City staff should be identified

In reference to your article "Former mayor pledges to clean up City Hall" (Aug. 20 issue of The Sun): It would have been enlightening to know what city staff members made the quoted remarks. I suggest that in the future you let the public know the identity of any and all quoted city staff members.

Thanks for the OPHIE column

This letter is in praise of your columnist, Ingrid McCleary.

Thanks so much for writing about how proud you feel about Sunnyvale and saving remaining vestiges of our agricultural past. That's great about buying bricks for the walkway at OPHIE (Orchard Heritage Park), and I also urge people to do that, but I would like to point out that we need many large donations as well as those $100 bricks in order to make our dream come true as soon as possible. The interpretative center can be an outstanding showplace for Sunnyvale. Now we just need to get it paid for and built.
