Speak Out
Clearing the way
Trespassing upon the spirit of Small-town America, the constructions of the men of money may multiply--as the current city manager wishes (The Sun, Jan. 3). With large profits beckoning, the "central redevelopment" may someday spread, perhaps by "eminent domain" seizure of homes and land by the city, followed by "sweetheart" transfer to developers.
All this to promote the "sacrosanct" economy (and taxation), at the possible expense of forced-out, undercompensated homeowners. A city council demolished, rather than restored, our paramount historic legacy, the l85l Murphy House. What homes then are safe from their bulldozer?
There are those voters who liked living here, or wish they could have lived here, before tranquil Sunnyvale began to be overrun by hell-bent growth and hordes of cars, as presided over by council politicians.

Parent reachs a serious communication breakdown
I am writing this letter out of complete frustration. I am the parent of a student who just completed the fifth grade at one of Sunnyvale's elementary schools. An incident occurred at school that has not been handled properly.
I followed up with the principal, the district superintendent and also wrote letters to each of the school board members. The letters were sent on June 3, 200l. I asked to meet with the school board. I have received no response! I am asking the community if anyone has any ideas as to whom I should contact next?
