    Sunnyvale runs

    The 18th annual Watermelon Run returns to Fremont High School on Sept. 7, 3:30 p.m. The yearly run is open to all Fremont alumni, students, staff and coaches. The course covers 2.1 miles across the school's campus, and there is watermelon provided for all participants.

    A week later, Fremont will host the 16th annual Firebird Invitational, with runners from 15 schools competing on the same campus course on Sept. 14, 3:30 p.m.

    San Jose Pacific holds signups

    The San Jose Pacific Pony Baseball program is holding signups for the winter league season for players ages 9-12. The signup fee is $40 per player for the season that runs from Sept. 10 to Nov. 19. For more information, call 408.536.0657.

    Coaches Needed

    St. Christopher's School in Willow Glen is looking for coaches for its flag football and volleyball teams for the fall season.

    The school needs coaches for its sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade flag football teams, and for its fifth, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade girls volleyball teams.

    Select soccer players needed

    Two Los Gatos Metro boys soccer teams are looking for players for the upcoming select season.

    The Metro boys under-13 Class 1 team is looking for a field player and a goalkeeper, and the boys under-14 Class 1 team is looking for two field players.

    Soccer tryouts

    The Sunnyvale Spartans, a boys soccer team that competes in the CYSA Class 1 division, is looking for players for the fall season. Boys born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. For tryout information call 408.720.1882.
