    Sunnyvale's Connell, Welch finish high in Catfish Swim

    Suzanne Heim-Bowen, Bob Crowder, Rob Small and Michael Buchanan were each champions when the athletes hit the water for Catfish Swim in Lexington Reservoir last month.

    Heim-Bowen and Small each won in the "skin" division, and Crowder and Buchanan won their events wearing weatsuits.

    Crowder, of Los Gatos, won the 1.2-mile wetsuit swim in the Catfish event. He covered the distance in 24:34 to finish a solid 19 seconds ahead of his nearest rival, Greg Anderson of Woodside.

    Lellee Bennett of Sunnyvale was 48th. Chris Campbell of Sunnyvale was 28th in the 1.2-mile skin race.

    David Connell of Sunnyvale was 18th, Thane Kreiner of Sunnyvale was 43rd and Carl Hecckert of Sunnyvale was 49th in the skins 2.4-mile swim.

    Kyle Welch of Sunnyvale was 17th, Jim Murphy of Sunnyvale 21st and Joyce Tyler of Sunnyvale 34th in the 2.4-mile wetsuit swim.
