'Father of the Bride' auditions

The Sunnyvale Community Players is holding open auditions for Father of the Bride on Sept. 22 and 23.

The play, a comedy directed by Rick Frank, has roles for 11 men and seven women between the ages of 20 and 60.

Open auditions will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center Performing Arts Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive. Callbacks will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24.

Auditionees need to bring a recent photograph of themselves. A script will be provided to read from.

Rehearsals are set for Sunday through Thursday from 7 to 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 25. Performances will be Thursday to Sunday from Nov. 8 to the 24.

'The King and I' opens Sept. 20

Sunnyvale Community Players opens its 27th season Friday, Sept. 20, with the musical The King and I.

Directed by Amy Zsandanyi-Yale, the musical is based on the book Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon.

The play will be performed at 8 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, from Sept. 20 to Saturday, Oct. 6. There will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinees on Sept. 22 and Oct. 6 as well as an evening show at 7 p.m. show on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Tickets for Friday, Saturday and Sunday matinees are $13 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets for the Thursday and Sunday evening performances are $9. A box office charge of 50 cents will be added to the cost of each ticket.
