    Frank Abe to show and discuss his award-winning film

    On Oct. 1, Frank Abe will show and discuss his award-winning documentary Conscience and the Constitution at 7 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Public Library. Conscience and the Constitution tells the complete story of the Japanese-Americans who fought internment during World War II, resisted the draft and refused to fight for the government that was imprisoning them.

    The Sunnyvale Public Library is at 665 W. Olive Ave. Admission is free. For information, call 408.730.7300.

    Sheriff's SWAT contest postponed

    As a result of national events, the Sheriff's Office is indefinitely postponing the "Best in the West 2001" S.W.A.T. Competition, which was to have taken place Sept. 13 and 14. A decision hasnot yet been made on whether to reschedulethe event or cancel it. Sunnyvale Public Safety's team won last year's competition.
