    Fluoridation forums scheduled

The Sunnyvale City Council last month voted to place Measure S, a motion to accept or deny the city's accepting fluoridated water from suppliers, on the November ballot. In order to better inform the public, in the wake of recent controversy, the city is sponsoring two public forums on the issue on Friday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Oct. 19.

At both forums, supporters and opponents of Measure S will be given time to make their case and city staff will give an overview of the water supply system. At the Sept. 22 forum, the public will be able to make comments. At the Oct. 19 forum, each side will respond to public questions of one minute, with a two-minute limit on responses. In addition, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission will make a presentation on their plans for a new fluoridation treatment plan at the October forum.

The League of Women Voters will be moderating the forums, both of which will be held in the City Council Chamber, 456 W. Olive, at 7 p.m. The forums will be open to the public, broadcast live on KSUN/Channel 18 and taped for replay.
