    Pony baseball

    The North County Pony Baseball League offers a fall program in the Cupertino-Sunnyvale area for players ages 12-15. The registration fee is $252 per player. For more information, call 408.245.7669.

    Pitching program

    A program for baseball pitchers that covers fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills for youth players ages 9-12 will be held Tuesday evenings Oct. 17 though Dec. 5 in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga. For more information, call Burch Boehner at 408.615.7957.

    Carousel to Coaster

    The annual Carousel to Coaster 10K run/5K walk returns to Paramount's Great America on Sept. 24, 8:30 a.m. All finishers receive a ribbon plus free admission to the park that day.

    The start-finish line and the registration table are in the Great America parking lot, and the course runs through the park and on neighboring streets. The registration fee is $20 on race day.

    BASHOF donations

    The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame will donate more than $120,000 in athletic-equipment grants to boys and girls youth sports organizations in the area as part of its youth fund.

    BASHOF has distributed more than $1.6 million in grants through its youth fund since 1981. The grant-application filing period runs through Jan. 31. Call 415.352.8827 or check www.bashof.org.

    Soccer tryouts

    The Sunnyvale Spartans, a boys soccer team that competes in the CYSA Class 1 division, is looking for players for the fall season. Boys born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. For tryout information, email jch_2000@yahoo.com or call 408.720.1882.
