Recycling program sponsors a lawn mower trade-in
The city of Sunnyvale's recycling department is encouraging the public to exchange their gas lawn mowers for more efficient electric mower for just $199.99 each, at the sMart Station, 164 Carl Road, on Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. to noon. Call 408.730.7262 for more information.
Police seek sexual assault victims
The Sunnyvale Public Safety Department is looking for any victims of a local chiropractor who was charged with the sexual assault of a pregnant patient last week. Detective Joel Witmer of public safety said Michael L. Siegler, Sunnyvale resident and owner-practitioner of a chiropractic clinic, is suspected of assaulting a 23-year-old woman, who was more than six months pregnant, during an appointment at his clinic.
Siegler was booked in Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of sexual assault Sept. 10, Witmer said.
Investigators are in the process of interviewing others who may have been victims and are asking anyone who was sexually assaulted or the target of sexual advances at the Siegler Clinic to contact Detective Joel Witmer at 408.730.7120.
City to hold town advisory meeting
The public is invited to attend upcoming meetings to offer suggestions on the development occurring in downtown Sunnyvale. Ideas are sought to develop a shared vision for thedowntown and
ways to link the individual projects into a unified whole. The next Downtown Stakeholders Advisory Meeting will be held Sept. 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Del Monte Building, 100 S. Murphy Ave., Sunnyvale.
Subsequent meetings are also open to the public. They will be held on Sept. 26, Oct. 9, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12.

Youth Science Institute to hold festival Sept. 30
The Youth Science Institute is holding its 16th Annual Wildlife Festival on Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Alum Rock Park. The event draws more than 2,500 people who come to the park to enjoy the wide array of science and nature activities, displays and presentations for all ages.
Visitors participate in nature crafts and science activities, enjoy live animal presentations, live reptile and amphibian exhibits and exhibits from local environmental organizations. Parks and Recreation to hold CPR/AED classes
The Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation Department is offering a series of classes that teach cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillator skills. Students will also learn how to prevent heart disease and use an automated external defibrillator. The four-hour evening classes will be held from Sept. 19 to Oct. 26. Graduates of the classes will earn an adult CPR with AED Skills certification, which is valid for one year.
