    Gymnasts win

    Gold Star Gymnastics rolled to a seventh-place finish among 45 teams at the rugged Judges Cup competition last month in Sacramento.

    Lauren Jow finished third in the all-around in the 11-and-over age group with Asia Casino fourth and Sarah Howell sixth.

    In the 9-10 age group, Noelle Schulenburg of Cupertino finished seventh in the all-around with Michelle Ho of Los Altos 13th and Alessia Dorin of Cupertino 17th.

    In an earlier meet, Schulenburg took third in the all-around in the 7-9 age group, tying for first on the uneven bars and in the floor exercise.

    Casino was first in the 10-and-over all-around, winning in the vault and on the floor.

    Anita Crumlin of Cupertino finished first in the vault at 9.1 in Level 5 competition at another meet. Brittany Skinner of Sunnyvale was second with Breanna Adams of Cupertino third. Skinner was first on the floor and Adams was second on the bars.

    Fore women

    The fourth annual Northern California Women's Corporate Open golf tournament will be held Oct. 5 at the Sunnyvale Municipal Golf Course.

    The 18-hole event is for amateur women golfers and will include the Corporate Cup competition for teams representing companies and businesses from all over Northern California.

    The charity event is a fundraiser for the Women's Sports Foundation and the Pacific Women's Golf Association, with funds going to assist in providing lessons, equipment and programs assist junior girl golfers.

    Youth soccer

    Teams are now forming for the upcoming fall youth soccer season. Sunnyvale leagues now holding signups include:

    Sunnyvale Alliance

    Sunnyvale Spartans
    Players are needed for the class 1 boys under-12 team. Tryouts are now being held for the fall season for boys born after July 31, 1989. For more information, call Julio Castillo at 408.720.1882 or e-mail jch_2000@yahoo.com.

    Agoos Bobblehead

    The first 10,000 fans to arrive at Spartan Stadium for the playoff soccer game between the San Jose Earthquakes and the Columbus Crew will receive a free Jeff Agoos Bobblehead Doll. The game begins at 7 p.m. on Sept. 26.
