    Public Safety

    The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department

    Commercial grand theft--Sept. 18, 10:45 a.m., 900 block Stewart Drive. Unknown suspect(s) took a $6,400 LCD computer projector from the Web Methods business.

    Vandalism--Sept. 17, 6:15 p.m., 1000 block Mango Avenue. Unknown person extensively vandalized the girl's bathroom near the pool at Sunnyvale Middle School. Damages were estimated at $300.

    Possession of controlled substance--Sept. 14, 4:45 p.m., 1400 block Wright Avenue. Suspect was trespassing. Suspect was also in possession of two glass pipes used for smoking controlled substances, several hypodermic needles and some heroine.

    Under influence of narcotics--Sept. 17, 9:27 p.m., 800 block Henderson Avenue. During a routine check of a city park, a plastic straw that is used for ingesting narcotics was seen resting in the front passenger handle of a car. When the driver returned to the vehicle, it was found that she was under the influence of a central nervous system stimulant.

    Auto burglary--Sept. 17, 1:45 p.m., 500 block Hawthorn Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) gained entry into the victim's vehicle while it was parked in a carport. Suspect(s) took the ashtray with $20 in quarters, a lap top computer, 30 CDs and housing for a Sony disc changer. Stolen items were valued at $3,170.

    Armed robbery--Sept. 16, 3:17 a.m., 1200 block E. Persian Dr. Suspect 1 knocked on locked front doors. After victim clerk allowed access, suspect 2 ran inside. Suspect 1 presented a handgun and demanded money. Suspect 2 rummaged through drawers until he found the cash drawer. He then removed $3,010 in cash and $60 in equipment. $2,810 was recovered.

    Vandalism--Sept. 18, 4:21 a.m., 500 block Cheyenne Drive. Unknown person wrote graffiti on the west side power console, a door on the west side of the teachers lounge and room 22 and the west side end wall of rooms 7 and 11 at Nimitz School. Damages were estimated at $100.
