Teen council holds auditions

The city's Teen Advisory Council is holding auditions this weekend to find talented local teens for a new program starting in October.

On Oct. 17, the council, the city and La Boulanger Cafe will launch Coffee House Nights for high school students. From 7 to 11 p.m. each Saturday night students can hang out, enjoy coffee and food at reduced prices and watch the entertainment.

The council is looking for bands, drama acts, poetry readers, comedians and "stupid human tricks."

The audition is Oct. 4 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center. Call 730-7741 to arrange a time.

City hosts forums on measures

A public forum on Sunnyvale's two binding arbitration measures will be held Oct. 7 inside City Hall chambers from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Representatives for both measures will answer questions from the public.

Earlier this year, the Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers Association gathered enough signatures to put Measure T on the ballot. If passed, Measure T would allow a third-party arbitrator to settle officers' labor disputes.

The city countered the measure by creating its own, called Measure S. If both measures pass, then decisions reached by the third party arbitrator could be upheld or overturned by voter approval.
