A web of support can be found on the 'Net

Resources for seniors abound on the Internet, and several are geared directly toward financial management. Here are four varied and useful sites that offer real answers to financial questions.
Senior Resource at www.seniorresource.com is a good starting point. In addition to giving overviews of Social Security, Medicaid and disability, it provides phone numbers, addresses and links to the agencies that run them. The site also offers advice on estate planning, reverse mortgages and housing options, and is rife with interesting links to other Web pages.
The American Association of Retired Persons' site at www.aarp.org offers several concise articles on the elderly and finances, mostly as a product of a December 1996 special focus section on seniors and money. Among the topics explored is financial planning for older women.
For a more detailed discussion of the financial aspects of retirement planning, try Maturity USA's site at www.maturityusa.com and ElderCare's site at www.elderweb.com. Both sites offer in-depth discussions on a myriad of financial issues.
More than 15 topics are explored on Maturity USA's money page, including IRA withdrawals, pension decisions, a wife's Social Security benefits and IPOs.
The ElderCare page offers a more philosophical perspective with articles titled "Can Medicaid Expenditures for the Elderly be Reduced?" and "Homesick: Low-Income Elderly Look for Alternatives to Nursing Homes."
