    Local resident, former librarian, passes away

    Irene Josephine "Jo" Reynolds, a resident of Sunnyvale for 39 years, died in Colorado Springs Aug. 5. She was 83.

    Reynolds was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, May 13, 1916. She was married June 27, 1941, to Robert Ricky Reynolds, who is deceased. She moved to Sunnyvale in 1955 and later worked as a school librarian. In 1994, Reynolds moved to Colorado to be closer to her grandchildren.

    Reynolds died after suffering from hypertension and complications from a stroke. She is survived by three daughters: Diana Lee Reynolds of Sunnyvale, Lynne Walker Stanbrough and Betsy Ann Maughan; brother Vahl Vladyka; and four grandchildren.

    Fremont High's class of '69 holds reunion

    The Fremont High School Class of 1969 will hold its 30th anniversary Oct. 16. The reunion will be held at Arthur's Restaurant from 6 p.m. to midnight. For more information, call 408.867.4088.

    Senior center hosts Octoberfest

    Dig out the lederhosen! Friday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the senior center will put on an open house with a Teutonic theme in celebration of the center's

    15th anniversary. Attractions include Germanic favorites like beer tasting, an "oompa band," and a Bratwurst lunch. There will also be events that are less likely to be found in the Munich beer gardens--such as a health fair with massage therapists, chiropractors and a speaker on self-healing vision-improvement exercises.

    Door prizes will be offered. Entry is free. The lunch costs $8. Call 408.730.7360 for information. The senior center is located at 820 W. McKinley Avenue, Sunnyvale 94086.
