City applies for state bond money of $1.2 million

The city council unanimously voted to pass a resolution to apply for a more than $1.2 million bond in state money available to the city through the passage of Proposition 12. The proposition, also known as the "safe neighborhood, clean water, clean air, coastal protection bond act," passed in 2000.

According to Robert Walker, director of the city's parks and recreation department, the city wanted the available funds but couldn't apply for them until the city council passed a resolution to apply. Walker said the bond money will be spent on four projects that were already approved by the council when it approved the Fiscal Year Budget for 2001-'02.
