Healing Factor
Sunnyvale rallies together and does the little things to help in the nation's recovery from the attack on Sept. 11
In the aftermath of the Sept. 11 tragedy, Sunnyvale residents and institutions have been finding ways to make a contribution. Over the past few weeks, numerous organizations have donated to relief efforts, or just expressed their patriotism. For example, Sunnyvale Community Services arranged for the Chinese Senior Citizens Club to meet with a class of fifth-graders from Mulberry Elementary to help create hope flags to sell for charity. So far, the class has raised more than $1,000. Elsewhere, Bishop Elementary students completed a "penny-drive " for charity, raising over $2,500 for Red Cross. Some institutions, such as the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department, exhibited their patriotism by hoisting a large flag in front of their headquarters.
