    Sunnyvale Theatre

    The Sunnyvale Community Players will perform The Secret Garden from Oct. 27 through Nov. 19, at the Sunnyvale Community Theatre, 550 E. Remington Dr., Sunnyvale. Thursday performances will be at 7:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturdays, at 8 p.m.; Sundays, at 2:30 p.m. Tickets range from $13 to $15 each. The performance will include a 19-piece orchestra and a large multimedia screen. For tickets or more information, call the box office at 408.733.6611.

    Vegetarian Cooking Class

    Vegetarians new and old along with those who want to learn more about a plant-based diet are all welcome to participate in the Vegetarian Cooking and Discovery Class on Oct. 19, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Cupertino High School, Room 2, 10100 Finch Ave. The class, taught by Kay Bushnell, will include cooking demonstrations and tips, food tastings, recipes to take home and tips on making the transition to a vegetarian diet. Students should eat a light meal before the class. Registration fee is $25, and a $5 food and materials fee should be made payable to the instructor.     Masquerade Ball

    The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce invites all members to the annual Showcase Sunnyvale on Oct. 21, at the Four Points by Sheraton. Masquerade Ball 2000 has been selected as this year's theme, so attendees have the option of themed-dress, as well as traditional black-tie optional dress. The evening, which honors individuals and Chamber members whose contributions have made a difference in the community, will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a multicourse gourmet dinner and dessert. Showcase Sunnyvale honors will include categories, such as Chamber business of the year, volunteer of the year and community services volunteer of the year, among others.     Studio Theatre of California

    The Studio Theatre of California will perform Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians at 8 p.m. on Oct. 20, 21, 27 and 28 at the Congregational Community Church in Sunnyvale, 1112 Bernardo Ave. Tickets are available for $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors.
