    Dons ranked high

    The De Anza Community College men's soccer team has lost just one of its first 12 games this season, and because of it the Dons are ranked among the top teams in the nation.

    De Anza's 8-1-3 record is good for 14th on the ranking chart posted by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

    The Dons are currently ranked fourth in Northern California behind Santa Rosa, the City College of San Francisco and Contra Costa College. West Valley is ranked seventh with a 4-1-4 record.

    In women's soccer, De Anza and West Valley are tied for fifth on the Northern California charts. The Dons are 5-2-2 thus far this season and the Vikings are 8-2.

    Pony baseball

    The North County Pony Baseball League offers a fall program in the Cupertino-Sunnyvale area for players ages 12-15. The registration fee is $252 per player. Call 408.245.7669.

    Soccer tryouts

    The Sunnyvale Spartans, a boys soccer team that competes in the CYSA Class 1 division, is looking for players for the fall season. Boys born after July 31, 1989, are eligible. Call 408.720.1882.

    RT Basketball

    The RT Developmental Basketball League features eight divisions for boys and girls in grades 3-11. League play will run Sundays through Nov. 19 in Los Gatos and San Jose. The registration deadline is Oct. 11. Call 408.879.0272.
