Residents are barred from street, but the hassle's worth it
In your article on the heritage neighborhood street closings (The Sun, Oct. 14) you stated that the barrier would allow access for commercial vehicles and residents. In fact, the residents of the neighborhood will also be restricted from crossing the barrier. This slight inconvenience is insignificant compared to the benefits of the traffic reduction.

Column gave reason to pause, reflect
Thank you Mr. Carl Heintze for writing your column "Living in a Moment Clarifies" in the Oct. 14 issue of The Sun.
On a busy Saturday morning, your story caught my eye and slowed me down to reflect on moments in my life.
The glorious moment, when I saw the Golden Gate bridge from the flight deck of the USS Ranger, after serving nine months in Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin; a site that I thought I would never see again, nine months before.
The frightful moment a driver pulled in front of us. Everything went into slow motion as the hood of our car folded up like an accordion.
Or the unbelievable moment when I saw the crown of our son's head during birth, or the frantic moment our youngest daughter broke her arm playing with her sister.
Or the anxious moment as we all held our breath, as our 11-year-old son was the final shooter of a tied soccer game, during a shoot out, in which he kicked the final goal to win the District Cup for his Sunnyvale team.
And the most priceless moment of all, in the hospital with my aunt, Auntie Doo, holding her hand, telling her I loved her, as she squeezed my hand in response, with her eyes closed and at that very moment, her last shallow breath rushed out through her lips and all was silent.
These are moments I will never forget. Thank you Mr. Heintze for this moment to reflect on these bittersweet, precious moments of my life the past 30 years.
