    Community services auxiliary hosts 29th holiday bazaar

    The 29th annual holiday bazaar is being held by the Sunnyvale community services auxiliary to benefit the Sunnyvale community services Christmas center.

    It will be held on Oct. 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Murphy Park building on California and Sunnyvale avenues. The items at the sale include ornaments, handmade quilts, toys, holiday decorations and much more. For more information, call 408.739.4236.

    Studio Theater of California presents 'The Dining Room'

    On Oct. 26 and 27 and Nov. 3 and 4 at 8 p.m., Studio Theater of California presents a performance of renowned playwright A.R. Gurney, The Dining Room. This work examines the large social movements of the 20th century by looking at the ways in which families and mealtimes have changed.

    Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 students and a $2 discount for tickets ordered in advance. The performance will be at the Congregational Community Church, 1112 Bernardo Ave., Sunnyvale. For more information, call 408.866.7870.

    The Sunnyvale Library holds Market Outlook 2001

    Learn about investment strategies for current market and economic conditions with the investment experts at American Express Funds, at a seminar Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in the Sunnyvale Library's program room.     Sunnyvale sponsors home composting workshop

    The home composting education program for Santa Clara County in coordination with the city of Sunnyvale is sponsoring a composting basics workshop conducted by a certified master composter. The workshop is Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sunnyvale Community Center arboretum, 550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale. To pre-register and for more information, call 408.730.7262.

    Social advocates for youth offers a parenting class

    On Oct. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m., a free meeting will be held to help parents learn about available resources and effective parenting techniques, while sharing their experience and concerns with each other. Topics will include communication skills, education, drugs and alcohol, gangs, and much more.

    The meeting will be held in the Columbia Middle School multi-purpose room in the 700 block of Morse Ave., Sunnyvale. Call 408.253.3540.
