    Animal Art

    The Sunnyvale Creative Arts Center Gallery in partnership with the Euphrat Museum of Art at De Anza College in Cupertino presents "Animal Stories" from Nov. 2 through Dec. 22. The art exhibit presents aspects of the animal world and its interface with humans through a variety of media including sculpture, painting, printmaking and photography. The works include three-dimensional animals, animal portraits, animals from Chinese astrology, animals in biology and more poetic or abstract animals. The museum is open Tuesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a reception with the artists on Nov. 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call the Euphrat Museum of Art at 408.864.8836, or the Creative Arts Center Gallery at 408.730.7731.

    Junque Sale

    The 23rd Annual Junque Sale will be held on Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. John's Lutheran/Trinity United Methodist Church, 581 East Fremont Ave., Sunnyvale. The sale is a fundraiser for the ecumenical emergency food organization, SV FISH. Baked goods, collectibles and many other items will be on sale. Donations for the sale will be accepted Nov. 2 and 3, at the church. No large furniture items. For more information, call the church at 408.739.2625.

    Free Citizenship Classes

    Fremont High School is hosting two free citizenship classes for legal residents, 18 years or older, with five-years-residency status who need English as a second language instruction in reading, writing and speaking to pass the citizenship test. The class will instruct participants about U.S. history, federal, state and local governments, how to fill out the N-400 application, and provide practice written tests. The citizenship preparation class is for more advanced English-speakers and will be more in-depth, moving at a faster pace. The ESL citizenship preparation class is for people at an intermediate level in English, and is geared to help with the vocabulary necessary to pass the citizenship test. Classes will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, Nov. 6 through Dec. 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at Fremont High School. The advanced English class will be held in room 95, and the ESL class will be in room 90. For more information, call 408.522.2735.

    '55 Alive' Mature Driving

    The 55 Alive Mature Driving course will be offered on Oct. 31 and Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Senior Center, 820 W. McKinley Dr. The cost for the eight-hour course is $10. For registration and more information, call 408.730.7360.
