Tai chi class geared especially to seniors

As part of the various classes it offers in art, poetry, exercise and Japanese tea traditions to the community, Hakone Gardens, at 21000 Big Basin Way in Saratoga, offers a tai chi class open to all but designed particularly with senior citizens in mind. Instructor Linda Scheer, a tai chi practitioner for 13 years, will lead participants through low-impact, meditative and graceful movements that promote strength, muscle tone, relaxation and health of body and mind.

Classes take place every Thursday, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. in Hakone's Lower House. Cost is $65 for an eight-week series, or $12 on a drop-in basis. To find out when the next series begins, or for other information, call Scheer at 408.295.9439, or email her at linda@xs.com.
