    Sunnyvale public safety officers seek to put a leash on dogfighting


    Cosmopolitan Silicon Valley isn't a place most people would expect to find the brutal sport of pit-bull fighting. But on June 17 Sunnyvale police confiscated five dogs and arrested five men ages 14 to 24 on charges of dogfighting in Orchard Gardens Park off 101 at Mathilda Avenue. Police officials say these were the first dogfighting arrests in Sunnyvale in recent memory. But in the four months since that time, two more incidents have resulted in the discovery of backyard "training grounds" for fighting dogs, and the arrests of three more Sunnyvale residents.   More
