Obituary
Mary June Sweeney
Mary June Sweeney of Sunnyvale died of a stroke on Oct. 24 at the age of 87.
She and her husband Thomas H. Sweeney--who died Dec. 9, 2000--raised their seven children in Sunnyvale since 1956. Mary was a stay-at-home mom who gave up a glamorous job in dress designing to become an accomplished teacher in the art of baking, sewing, art, gardening and bed-making, according to her family.
She is survived by her children, Joan Sweeney of Sunnyvale, Mary Varr of Saratoga, Therese Hulbert of Washington, Kathleen Caviglia of Saratoga, Ann Markie of San Diego, Elizabeth Selig of Sunnyvale and Tom Sweeney of San Jose. She has 20 surviving grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services have been held.
