Community welcome at Baha'i celebration
By Melissa Matchak
The Baha'is of Sunnyvale welcome the public to the annual Birth of Baha'u'llah celebration on Nov. 12, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunset Oaks Clubhouse, 675 Picasso Terrace, Sunnyvale. The celebration marks the birth of Baha'u'llah, the prophet founder of the Baha'i faith. For the more than 20 years, members of the Baha'i faith worldwide celebrate this birthday.
The Baha'i faith was founded a century and a half ago and is today among the fastest growing of world religions. The Baha'i faith emphasizes many principles, including the equality of women and men, the elimination of prejudice and extremes of wealth and poverty, religious tolerance, the harmony of science and religion and the oneness of humanity.
The local celebration will include food, pastries and live entertainment. Guitar music accompanied by readings related to the Baha'i faith will be featured.
