    Handling the Holidays

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center will host a special workshop to help people cope with the painful aspects of the upcoming holiday season on Nov. 13, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., in room 202 at the Senior Center. Attendees will learn how to survive holiday music and decorating, how to function when there's nothing left to give and how to effectively cope with losses or changes. The workshop is free of charge.     'Ghost' in Sunnyvale

    The California Theatre Center will perform The Canterville Ghost Nov. 6 through Nov. 21, at the Sunnyvale Community Center. The Oscar Wilde comedy about an American family's encounter with an English ghost, who attempts to haunt the family but ends up being traumatized by them, is enjoyable for anyone age 3 and older. Performances will take place at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday through Friday for $7.50 to $8, and at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays for $11 to $12.     'The Crucible' at Fremont

    The Fremont High School drama department will be performing The Crucible, the well-known Arthur Miller play about the Salem witch trials on Nov. 16, 17 and 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school's main auditorium.     Seniors Dance

    The Sunnyvale Senior Center hosts dancing and live music the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. The Nov. 8 dance will feature a new band, Nob Hill Sounds, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Nov. 23 dance will feature the regular band, the Serenaders. Cost is $4 per person, and light refreshments are served. No partner needed. For more information, call 408.730.7360.

    Girl Scouts bring HOPE

    Girl Scouts of Santa Clara County, in cooperation with HOPE Rehabilitation Services, will collect used clothing and other household items through Nov. 30, as part of HOPE Benefit Days, a drive that will help fund programs for more than 2,000 people with developmental disabilities. During the month of November, Scouts will distribute empty bags and explain the program. When bags are filled, Scouts will deliver them to either a troop leader's home or a HOPE donation facility. Items such as clothing, books, records, tapes, CDs, toys and games, small furniture, linens, small household appliances and sports equipment are welcome. Sunnyvale residents can donate items to the HOPE center at 800 W. California Ave. For more information, call 408.748.2850.     Holiday Bazaar

    St. Martin Parish will hold its annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the St. Martin Church Hall, 597 Central Ave., Sunnyvale. Holiday craft items, Christmas decorations, hand knit and crocheted items, baked goods, candy and tamales for sale. Refreshments available all day. Call 408.730.4160.

    Stamp Show

    The Sunnyvale Stamp Society will hold its annual Stamp Show on Nov. 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Community Center gymnasium, 550 E. Remington. Admission and parking free. Features include dealers, children's tables, exhibits and door prizes.
