Local drive to use recycled paper
In recognition of America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, three Bay Area counties and their cities are launching a campaign to encourage businesses and residents to buy recycled paper. The month-long campaign asks Bay Area workers and residents to make a special effort this fall to use recycled paper at work and at home.
To learn more about using recycled paper, Bay Area businesses and the public are invited to attend a free workshop on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Quantum Corporation, Building 1, Multipurpose Room, 1140 Technology Drive, Milpitas. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Pacific Industrial Business Association. Space is limited. RSVP at 650.965.2436, or email piba@ix.netcom.com. See www.RecycleWorks.org, or call the number listed above for more information.
Bay Area stores that stock recycled paper for individual or business customers include Office Depot, McWhorter's, Kinko's, Office Max, Staples and others. Customers must specifically look for, and request, recycled paper since most of the paper on the shelves is not recycled. A more complete list of recycled paper sources is available on the website listed above. This site includes large quantity sources, and catalog and Internet ordering for businesses. Information may also be obtained by calling the Santa Clara County recycling hotline at 800.533.8414.
