Protesting a proposition

Around 200 Fremont High School students poured onto the sidewalk in front of their campus Nov. 7 to protest the passage of Proposition 209, which eliminates affirmative action programs. The lunch-time crowd yelled slogans at passing cars, and were often greeted with honks of support in return. At times the group poured onto Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road, and had to be ushered back onto the sidewalk by administrators. The group, consisting mostly of girls, was also watched closely by Principal Pete Tuana from across the street.
