'Peter Pan' flies into Mountain View theater

The Peninsula Youth Theatre presents its production of Peter Pan, which opened on Nov. 10, and will run through Nov. 19, at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts. The cast includes Sunnyvale residents Jessica Apperson, Samantha Cardenas, Dana Garbi, Adriana and Courtney Hampton, Karyn Hansen, Karen Hines and Anna Traina.

It has been tradition for a grown woman to play the part of Peter Pan since the play's opening in London in 1904. However, in this production, the title role is played in alternating performances by Noel Carey of Palo Alto and Chip Kraemer of Mountain View. In another diversion from tradition, the role of Captain Hook will be shared by two girls, Elizabeth Adelman of Mountain View and Meredith Muller of San Jose.

The production will feature music, choreographed swordplay and professionally designed sets, along with levitation effects by ZFX Flying Illusions.

The Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts is located at 500 Castro St. Show times are 9:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Fridays, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, and 1 p.m. Sundays. Tickets cost $5 to $14. For tickets and more information, call the box office at 650.903.6000, or go to www.mvcpa.com.
