    Sunnyvale soccer

    The Sunnyvale AYSO will holl signups for the spring and fall seasons for players ages 4-18 on Nov. 17 and Feb. 22, 7-9 p.m., at the Ponderosa Park Building.

    Practice will begin in mid-March and the season ends the first week of June.

    Players must provide a copy of their birth certificate, emergency information and a wallet-size photo, or a 1999 player pass.

    The cost is $40 per player for the spring season, $50 for the fall season or $80 for both.

    Officials needed

    The Northwest YMCA of Cupertino is looking for officials for the upcoming winter basketball league season. Officials will be paid $6-7 per hour, depending upon experience. The YMCA offers extensive training, so no experience is necessary.

    League play runs Jan. 8-March 4, and officials must commit to the entire season. Games are played on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

    Run to Far Side

    The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco will host the Run to the Far Side, a 10K and 5K run/walk set for Nov. 28, 8:30 a.m. The registration deadline is Nov. 19 and the cost if $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers.     Speed training

    The emphasis will be on speed when athletes training for football, basketball, soccer, baseball and track get together for a speed, quickness and jumping clinic on Dec. 11, 9-11 a.m., at the Los Gatos High School track.

    Competitive diving
