No move housing in crowded towns
So the manufacturers association wants us all to "suck it in" a little bit more so we can add a few million more people into the Santa Clara Valley, and while we are at it, let us redevelop the older portions of the valley at a higher density so we can accommodate even more people even if it means pushing the low income people out of their homes. I've lived in the Santa Clara valley for 41 years and have no intentions of "sucking it in" any more to accommodate the "big money" people". I also do not wish to have my health degraded as result of more and more bad air days or sitting in traffic breathing the exhaust fumes of the car in front of me. I also do not wish to do without water during periods of drought.
Let me offer some suggestions to the Manufacturers Association.
Start building high-density housing on your work sites. Your employees can then walk to work and not impact the environment or add to the traffic congestion.
Increase the density of housing in places like Los Altos Hills, Woodside, Atherton, Portola Valley. The CEO's of the companies in the Santa Clara Valley will not like that, but it is only fair that we all share in the reduction in the quality of life in the area.
Stay out of the farm lands of Salinas, Watsonville, San Benito County and beyond. That is some of the most productive farming land in the world. and feed us as well as large percentages of the rest of the country. It cannot be replaced.
Start looking elsewhere for our next major expansion. Nevada has lots to offer.
