    Adult sports

    The Sunnyvale Recreation Department will sponsor adult basketball and volleyball leagues this winter.

    The basketball league features a 10-game season plus playoffs, and the cost is $545 per team, plus $10 for each nonresident.

    The volleyball league offers an eight-match season plus playoffs, and the cost is $240 per team, plus $10 for each nonresident.

    The registration deadline for each league is Dec. 10. For more information, call 408.730.7334.

    Officials needed

    The Northwest YMCA of Cupertino is looking for officials for the upcoming winter basketball league season. Officials will be paid $6-7 per hour, depending upon experience. The YMCA offers extensive training, so no experience is necessary.

    League play runs Jan. 8-March 4, and officials must commit to the entire season. Games are played on Saturdays, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

    Run to the Far Side

    The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco will host the Run to the Far Side, a 10K and 5K run/walk set for Nov. 28, 8:30 a.m. The registration deadline is Nov. 19 and the cost if $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers.     Pony Baseball signups

    The Sunnyvale-Cupertino Pony Baseball program is accepting registration in November for players ages 7-18. The league also needs adult volunteers to become board members.

    The Sunnyvale AYSO will hold signups for the spring and fall seasons for players ages 4-18 on Feb. 22, 7-9 p.m., at the Ponderosa Park Building. For more information, call 408.739.AYSO.
