Lakewood lines it up for parade

The Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association will hold its annual Christmas parade on Dec. 13th at 11 a.m. The parade--led by the Boy Scouts--begins at the corner of Lakechime and Silverlake drives, near Lakewood Elementary School. Participants will march down Lakechime, turn left on Lakehaven and cross Lawrence Expressway onto Sandia Avenue. The parade concludes at the Fairwood School, on the corner of Sandia and Fairwood.

A holiday party--hosted by AMD--takes place immediately following the event.

This year, the Fremont High School marching band heads up the procession. Some of the entrants will include the Los Gatos Horseman's society, General DeAnza on horseback, Bo Peep and her Sheep, The Starlighters dance troupe, the Belle Swingers, the National Guard Armory, a 7-foot tall human Christmas Tree and Santa on the back of a huge tow truck. Altogether, 40 groups will participate.

City Councilman Fred Fowler--a former president of the Lakewood Village Neighborhood Association will emcee the event.

There also be live music, with The Blues Wizards Band performing some Christmas songs.
