    Free valet parking in downtown

    Due to the continuing construction in downtown Sunnyvale, the city now offers valet parking absolutely free. The service will be available seven days a week through Dec. 24. The drop-off/pick-up point is in Town and Country near the intersection of Washington Avenue and Frances Street. The city will also provide free shuttle service between the Town and Country Shopping Center and the WAVE (Town Center Mall) through Dec. 24. For more information about on-going construction or related special services, call 408.737.4900, visit the city's website at ci.sunnyvale.ca.us/downtown/ or visit the Downtown Information Office at 100 S. Murphy Ave. (Historic Del Monte Building) between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays and between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturdays.

    Council workshop on TV Dec. 14

    Each year Sunnyvale City Council conducts a workshop to set priorities for new issues that require significant staff study in the next calendar year. This year's workshop, scheduled for Dec. 14, at 8 a.m. in the council chambers, will be open to the public although no public testimony will be heard. The workshop will be televised live, and rebroadcast on KSUN, Channel 18.

    Open space park closed to cycling

    Pursuant to the July 12 decision of the board of directors of the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, seven of the District's 25 open space preserves are closed to cycling as of Dec. 1. The preserves that are now closed to cyclists are: Foothills, La Honda Creek, Los Trancos, Picchetti Ranch, Pulgas Ridge, Teague Hill and Thornewood Open Space Preserves. Signs have been posted at each of the affected preserves notifying trail users of the closures.
