Electronic Transfer Account benefits federal payees

Those people who receive monthly Social Security, SSI, Veterans Administration or other federal checks can now have these payments automatically deposited into an Electronic Transfer Account, a federally insured account newly created by the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Having an ETA not only reduces trips to the bank for seniors with mobility problems; it also reduces the chances of checks getting stolen from mailboxes. Anyone can open an ETA, even those who have been unable to qualify for a checking or savings account.

    Call 1.888.382.3311 (TDD: 1.877. 326.5833), or visit www.eta-find.gov.
