The King's Academy girls' and boys' basketball teams both started the season off right, and both at the expense of Woodside Priory.

Beth Davidson tossed in 10 points to lead the Knights to the tight two-point victory in the girls' game.
King's led just 9-8 after a period, and fell behind by 10 at the half, 23-13, when Woodside outscored the Knights 15-4 in the second period.
The clubs matched 10 points in the third period, but the Knights pulled out the win by topping Woodside 16-4 in the final period.
In boys' action, Danny Carter pumped in 22 points to lead King's to a rousing 80-47 win to open the year. Jon Terada pitched in 19 points for the Knights and Steve Rushing added 14, each one hitting a three-pointer.
Andy Elwell supported with eight points for the winners and Lance Westcott hit six.
King's opened up a commanding 20-9 lead in the first period and stretched that to 40-27 by the half. The Knights put Woodside away 23-8 in the third period on the road to the easy win.
