Where have they gone?
We're looking for local athletes who have gone on to stardom beyond the area high school ranks. We're accumulating the information to publish in an issue this December featuring the many talented athletes from the area who are now competing in college and beyond. If you know of someone who should be included, drop us a note by mail to 245 Almendra Ave., Los Gatos, 95030, or by fax to 354-3917.

Signups are now being accepted for the Christmas Classic, a teen holiday basketball tournament co-hosted by Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation and the Northwest YMCA of Cupertino.
The tournament will feature divisions for players ages 13-14, 15-16, and 17-19. The fee is $22 per player, and there will be prizes and awards presented.
For more information, call Sunnyvale Parks and Rec at 730-7514 or the Northwest YMCA at 257-9879, ext. 19.
Atondo scores TD
Fremont junior Gabe Atondo ran back a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown in the Firebirds' 42-14 loss to Leland in the first round of the Central Coast Section Division II playoffs.
Atondo's touchdown, and the extra point kick that followed, gave Fremont a 7-6 lead in the first period, but the Chargers went on to take a 26-7 lead before the half.
We incorrectly identified the kick returner in the Nov. 27 issue of The Sun. Our apologies for the error.

The Northwest YMCA is looking for volunteer coaches for its 1997 basketball league. The season runs Jan. 13-Feb. 28, and practice and games are held once a week.
Coaches are needed for grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5, and 6-8. Signups for the league end Dec. 30.
