    Jazz Society Event

    The South Bay Traditional Jazz Society will host the 10th Avenue Jazz Band at the society's monthly meeting on Dec. 17, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sunnyvale Elk's Lodge, 375 N. Pastoria Ave. There will be a raffle and dancing, in addition to the available food and bar. Cost is $8 at the door. The South Bay Traditional Jazz Society is a 25-year-old nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of and education about traditional jazz music for the public.     The Joy of Christmas

    St. Mark Lutheran Church invites the public to learn again about the first Christmas as congregation members portray the nativity on Dec. 15 and 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, 125 E.     Service of Wholeness

    A service of wholeness, in preparation for Christmas, featuring "prayer stations" throughout the church sanctuary, will be held on Dec. 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Sunnyvale, 728 W. Fremont Ave. At prayer stations, worshippers can ask for prayers on their own behalf or for others. All are welcome. For more information, call the church at 408.739.1892.

    Marines collecting toys

    In coordination with the U.S. Marines, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Northern California, will be collecting new, unwrapped gifts for its local Toys for Tots campaign. Coldwell Banker offices in the Bay Area will serve as collection centers from Nov. 30 through Dec. 19. Toys for Tots was founded in 1947 in Los Angeles, and since then the U.S. Marines have distributed over 243 million toys to needy children across the nation. Members of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve will pick up the toys from each Coldwell Banker collection center and distribute them to charitable organizations and social welfare agencies in the area. Toys may be dropped off at the Coldwell Banker office at 480 S. Mathilda Ave., Sunnyvale. For more information, call 408.616.2600.
