Sheriff's deputies arrested two Sunnyvale boys for armed robbery early Monday, Dec. 6, after a group of three boys allegedly beat up a Cupertino man outside his apartment on Park Circle East. Deputies are still looking for the third suspect.

Sheriff's Department spokesperson Sgt. John Hirokawa says the victim, whose name was not released, went out to get some papers for work from his car at about midnight. In the carport, he was confronted by three suspects. One grabbed him from behind with a choke hold while another took the man's glasses, Hirokawa says. The suspects allegedly produced a semiautomatic handgun and knocked the man to the ground, hitting and kicking him, before making off with his glasses.

Hirokawa said it wasn't clear why the suspects took the glasses.

The man managed to call the Santa Clara County Sheriffs' Department at 12:04. Deputies set up a perimeter around the area to search for the suspects, who were stopped at 12:08 while walking along De Anza Boulevard near Mariani Drive.

Sheriffs, along with Sunnyvale Police, continued to search the surrounding area, but never found the third suspect. The handgun was not recovered

The victim did not sustain serious injuries from the assault, but was treated by paramedics for cuts on his head and transported by ambulance to Valley Medical Center for further treatment.
