On Guard

Guardian angels Jason Tesarez and Les Lamcke try to teach Casey Anderson, Kenneth Finnegan and Kristina Finnegan that there's more to Christmas than fighting over gifts in "Ya Gotta Have Faith," a holiday drama produced by the Good Samaritan United Methodist youth group in Cupertino. The lineup includes a windup Frankenstein doll, a politically incorrect fur salesman, a brass band--and three young people "dying of boredom" at a church service. The musical, written by Paul Finnegan with music by Carolyn Lamcke, is powered by 75 young people in a drama designed to amuse preschoolers, streetwise teens and weary adults who wish Christmas were over so they could get on with their lives. The play will be performed Dec. 19 at 7 p.m.; Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. (with signing provided for hearing-impaired members of the audience); Dec. 21 at 7 p.m.; and Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. Admission is free; a free-will offering will be taken to benefit the San Jose Family Shelter. For more information call the Rev. Berry at 253-0751. Good Samaritan is located at 19624 Homestead Road, on the corner of Wolfe Road.
