Museum names Stone, Jernigan to board
Larry Stone, the Santa Clara County assessor and former Sunnyvale mayor, has been named to represent the city on the board of the planned California Air and Space Center. Also named to the Sunnyvale delegation on the board was Cliff Jernigan, head of community relations of AMD.
The museum--which is slated as a West Coast rival of the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.--is a partnership between Sunnyvale, Mountain View and NASA, and will be located in Hangar 1 at Moffett Field.
NASA and Mountain View have yet to name their members to the board.

Sunnyvale's annual citywide garage sale has been named the "Best Waste Prevention Program" by the California Environmental Protection Agency. Sunnyvale was one of eleven cities in the state to win a Trash Cutter Award.
Fill the pool with money
Friends of the Fremont Pool have begun raising money for the 50-meter pool they hope to build at Fremont High School. The friends ask that checks be made out to City of Sunnyvale, Pool Trust Fund, and mailed to P.O. Box 2656, Sunnyvale, CA 94087. The fundraising goal is $1 million.
