    Softball clinics

    The Olympian School of Softball, headed up by Lisa Mize and Stacy Pierson, will hold softball hitting and pitching clinics in early January.

    The clinics, for players ages 7-18, each meet once a week. Call 408.374.8842.

    Little league

    Local leagues in Little League District 44 have announced early registration for the 2000 spring season. Players must live within league boundaries and must present a birth certificate and proof of residency to enroll.

    Sunnyvale Southern--baseball and softball signups to age 16, Saturdays, Jan. 8, noon-3 p.m., and 15 through 29, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at DeAnza Park Rec Building, off Ticonderoga, just west of Mary Avenue in Sunnyvale, and Wednesday, Jan. 12, 6-8 p.m., Round Table Pizza, Cherry Chase Shopping Center, 665 S.     Sunnyvale Metro-- baseball and softball signups for players ages 5-18 (as of July 31, 2000), Jan. 8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and Jan. 12, 7-9 p.m., at Raynor Park; Jan. 15, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Ponderosa Park; and Jan. 19, 7-9 p.m., and Jan. 22, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., at Ortega Park. Divisions include T-ball (boys and girls), ages 5-7; baseball, ages 7-12; softball, ages 7-18; and Challenger (children with disabilities). The fees are $65 for ages 5-8 and $85 for ages 8-18 ($155 for three or more from a family). There is an early bird discount of $20 for those who registrer by Jan. 22. Call 408.243.KIDS.
