The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department.
Fire--Dec. 12, 12:35 a.m. Police believe a fire in the 700 block of Sequoia Drive could be the result of a suicide. When officers arrived at the scene, they found one uninjured resident outside of the burning structure. Another resident was found deceased in a vehicle parked inside the garage. The blaze took 25 firefighters 50 minutes to control, and caused $350,000 worth of damage.
Theft--Dec. 12, 6:30 p.m. Officers arrested three people who were working together to steal merchandise from the Fry's Electronics located on the 1000 block of E. Arques Avenue. The three were apprehended after they returned to the store for a second time the same day and attempted to steal more merchandise. Officers recovered $534.34 worth of merchandise.
Theft--Dec. 17, 1:05 p.m. A 22-year-old man was arrested outside Champs Sports in the 2000 block of Town Center Lane after he attempted to leave the store without
paying for the shoes he was wearing. After requesting to try on a pair of Nike TL Air, the suspect walked around the store and engaged in a conversation with the manager. When officers arrived, the suspect insisted he had
purchased the shoes two weeks prior.
