Public Safety Report The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Public Safety Department: Commercial burglary - May 28, 3:17 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. The suspect was observed by the department store's security at the above address placing items from the display into a shopping bag from another store. The suspect walked by open cash registers without making any attempt to pay for the hidden items. The suspect was detained outside and escorted back into the store. The suspect was later booked into county jail. Residential burglary - May 27, 2 a.m., 1500 block of S. Wolfe Road. An officer responded to the above address on the report of a residential burglary. The victim's vehicle was also stolen from the residence. Other items stolen were two passports, two Social Security cards, one green card and one Sony laptop computer. The total loss from the items stolen is $3,150. Possession of controlled substance, cocaine - May 26, 2:17 a.m., 400 block of Fair Oaks Avenue. An officer stopped a vehicle. During his search, the officer found cocaine upon the occupant's person. The officer transported the suspect to the department of public safety for processing. The officer evaluated the suspect for being under the influence of a controlled substance and suspected that he was. The suspect was ultimately transported to county jail. Auto burglary - May 26, 10:36 a.m., 1200 block of Elko Drive Between 7 p.m. on May 25 and 10 a.m. on May 26, an auto burglary occurred at the above address. The suspect stole one matching drill worth $150, one screwdriver set worth $100, one set of touching equipment worth $100 and maps worth $25. The suspect also caused $400 worth of window damage. Identity theft - May 21, 11 a.m., 1100 block of La Rochelle Terrace. The reporting party called public safety to report that he had been the victim of an identity theft. Approximately two weeks ago, his mother, who lives in Honolulu, was a victim of a residential burglary. Since that time, he and his sister, who lives in Los Angeles, have noticed that their credit histories have been compromised. Bank robbery with handgun - May 21, 10:03 a.m., 300 block of S. Mathilda Avenue. A male entered the bank at the above address, vaulted the counter and took cash from the teller trays, leaving the same way he came in. The suspect brandished a semi-automatic handgun at the tellers to gain access to their teller drawers. The suspect took a total of $25,148 and fled. Residential burglary - May 20, 3:08 p.m., 1000 block of Blair Avenue. On May 20, between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., the suspect(s) entered the residence at the above address. The suspect(s) ransacked the house and took $120 in cash, some jewelry and one Nokia 5190 cell phone, worth $60. |
