Faules seventh William Faules, who led Homestead to a fourth-place finish at the Central Coast Section (CCS) track and field finals, finished seventh in the 110-meter high hurdles at the state championships held Saturday at Cerritos College in Southern California. Faules, who was second in the 110 highs in 14.77 and first in the 300 intermediate hurdles in 38.95 at CCS, ran 15.20 at the state meet to get seventh. Smart Pioneers The Cupertino girls gymnastics team won a special award this spring as a Central Coast Section spring season scholastic championship team. The Pioneers combined for a 3.6920 grade point average to top the gymnastics field. Cupertino was one of 11 teams to win coveted scholar-athlete awards this spring. Cupertino was also fifth in boys swimming and diving with a collective 3.3160 GPA. The King's Academy was third in baseball (3.3670) and fifth in softball (3.3670). Football sign-ups Sunnyvale Pop Warner Football organization will hold sign-ups for the 2002 season on June 15, 9 a.m. to noon, at Fair Oaks Park in Sunnyvale. All-sports camp Santa Clara University will host its Summer All-Sports Camp for children with a "sincere interest in sports and outdoor recreation." Camps will begin July 14 and Aug. 11 for resident campers and July 15 and Aug. 12 for day campers. Sports offered will include baseball, basketball, volleyball, soccer, tennis and more. San Jose State camps San Jose State University baseball coach Sam Piraro will head up the annual SJSU summer baseball camps for players ages 6-17 again this summer. Sessions include comprehensive camps on July 8-12 and July 22-26, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, for players ages 6-16. The cost is $110 per player, and camps are limited to the first 75 players. Specialty camps are slated for July 29-Aug. 2 (pitching camp for ages 12-17, 10 a.m. - noon, and hitting camp for ages 9-17, 1-3 p.m.).
