Public Safety Report The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety: Commercial burglaryJune 6, 6:30 p.m., 200 block of W. Iowa Street. A Sunnyvale public safety officer responded to the department store at the above address on a report of a shoplifter in custody. The officer arrived and made contact with the reporting party, who works as a security officer at the department store. The reporting party saw the suspect place a CD inside a backpack and attempt to leave the establishment without paying for it. He was stopped at the exit doors and detained. Trespassing on private propertyJune 6, 4:58 p.m., 1100 block of Lockheed Martin Way. The suspect returned to the apartment located at the above address and let himself into the building with his old identity card. The suspect was cited and released. Possession of controlled substanceJune 6, 1:05 a.m., Intersection of California and Morse avenues. A Sunnyvale public safety officer contacted the driver of a suspicious-looking vehicle parked at the 400 block of California Avenue. During a search of the vehicle, the officer discovered a small quantity of crystal methamphetamine and a glass pipe hidden inside. The suspect was arrested for the possession of a controlled substance. Stolen vehicleJune 5, 3:10 p.m., 900 block of W. El Camino Real. On June 5, at approximately 11:30 a.m., a vehicle theft occurred at the above address. The unknown suspects approached the owner of an auto dealership about a van that was in the lot. The owner allowed the suspect(s) to test drive the vehicle without him. The suspect(s) never returned. The vehicle was a Mazda gold van worth $1,600. Forced burglary, autoJune 5, 9:30 a.m., 900 block of Corte Madera. Between 8 p.m. on June 4 and 9:30 a.m. on June 5, the unknown suspect(s) broke into the victim's locked vehicle and took items without the victim's permission. The items taken were one pair of size 10 Nike softball cleats, worth $20, one Franklin, left-handed baseball glove, worth $50 and one Franklin baseball batter's glove, worth $5. Stolen vehicleJune 5, 6:48 a.m., 100 block of N. Murphy Road. The victim reported a theft in the previous week of her auto. The victim alleges that her adult daughter took the vehicle. |
