Obituary

Frances Wilde Jones

Frances Wilde Jones, a longtime resident of Sunnyvale, died in Santa Rosa on June 22.

Born in Birmingham, Ala., on Feb. 3, 1907, she grew up in Piedmont, Calif., and lived in Sunnyvale from 1934 until 2001. After attending UC-Berkeley, she married the late William E. Jones. In Sunnyvale, she was active in Girl Scouts and became a florist. She eventually opened her own shop, Cupertino Florist, Flowers by Frances. A lifelong Catholic, she belonged to Resurrection Catholic Church and St. Martin's Catholic Church in Sunnyvale.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Weinberger of Berkeley, and her son, Charles B. Jones, and his wife, Gail, of Santa Rosa; grandchildren Brian Weinberger and his wife, Kristin, and Jill Weinberger of Berkeley; Sheila Esser and her husband, Frank, of Napa, Maureen McCurry and her husband, John, of Folsom; and Sean Jones and his wife, Lorraine, of El Dorado Hills; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved beagle, Sara.

A memorial Mass was held on June 28 in Santa Rosa. In her memory, contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, P.O. Box 900, Santa Rosa, 95402, or Canine Companies for Independence, P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, 95402.
