The Great Pet Race

Dogs come from throughout the western United States to compete in the first Bay to Barkers Flyball Tournament

Sunnyvale's Twin Creeks Sports Complex was the site of the first annual Bay to Barkers Flyball Tournament June 22-23. Sponsored by Pawdemonium Flyball Club of San Jose, the event featured between 60 and 80 dog teams competing in relay races. Races featured standoffs between two teams of four competing dogs. The dogs were required to jump four hurdles, retrieve a tennis ball from a spring-loaded mechanism, return over the four hurdles and pass the ball to their teammate. The first team to complete the course was the winner. There were four divisions of competition, depending on the size of the dog. Teams came to compete from as far away as Las Vegas, Reno and Seattle.
